A coached programme built for long-term development — fun, safe, scalable and structured.

What are our sessions?
Our kids and teens programme brings the best of functional fitness training to young people aged 3–18. Think running, jumping, climbing, lifting, throwing, and teamwork — all scaled to their age, ability, and confidence level. No experience needed. Just energy and a willingness to try.
Every session follows a structured warm-up, skill or strength focus, a workout, and a cool-down game. It's the same methodology used by elite athletes, adapted so kids develop coordination, strength, and discipline — all while having a blast.

Every movement is adapted to each child’s ability. No heavy barbells for little ones — just bodyweight, cones, and play. Teens progress to real lifting with proper coaching.
We build resilience, self-belief, and a positive relationship with fitness. Kids learn to push themselves, celebrate progress, and support each other.
Every session is led by experienced coaches who specialise in youth fitness. Small groups mean every child gets attention, correction, and encouragement.
Games, challenges, and team activities make every session something kids actually look forward to. They get fitter without it ever feeling like a chore.
Starts Sunday, 10 May 2026 · 5 sessions
One free session, no payment, no commitment. Come and see how it goes.
Three groups
Everyone is coached and movements are scaled so kids can progress safely. Age is a guide — the head coach decides which group will get the most out of each child.

Fun-based movement, coordination, confidence, and listening skills. The first taste of "I can do this" — built one giggle at a time.
Movement foundations: running, jumping, pulling, squatting, throwing and teamwork — scaled and coached. They'll get strong, fast, and properly looked after.

Strength, conditioning and confidence. Learn safe lifting, good movement, and how to train with intent. Looks much like an adult class.

Head Coach & Owner
If you want your kid to fall in love with fitness, you've come to the right place. As a qualified CrossFit Level 2 Trainer and CrossFit Kids Trainer, Mat relaunched Northern Warrior's Kids & Teens programme back in 2021 - and it's grown into one of the most popular things we do at the gym. Taking over as gym owner in 2023 hasn't slowed him down one bit. Mat is hands-on in every session, bringing the same energy and passion that's made NW what it is. Ask him about the kids programme and he'll talk your ear off — genuinely obsessed (in the best way).

Coach Assistant
Lauren knows what it's like to be on the other side of the whiteboard - she came up through the Northern Warrior Teens programme herself before joining the coaching team in 2022. Now she's one of the reasons the kids' sessions have such a brilliant atmosphere. Honestly? She brings all the vibes. Outside the gym, Lauren has studied a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport & Exercise Science and currently works in the NHS as a physiotherapy assistant - so when it comes to movement and keeping young athletes safe, she knows her stuff. Every class is fun, energetic, and in great hands.
Why Northern Warrior
Every movement is age-appropriate and supervised by qualified coaches who genuinely love working with kids.
Kids don't just "have fun" — they get stronger, more coordinated and more confident with each session.
Friendships forged through shared challenge. Kids look forward to coming back every week.
Football, gymnastics, rugby, swimming — what we build here makes them better at all of it.
